The Vale Health and Wellbeing Centre

What is The Vale Health and Wellbeing Centre?

Wiltshire Council is developing Health and Wellbeing Centres and community hubs (formerly campuses) across the county. A Health and Wellbeing Centre is a place or places where communities and local partners jointly provide services to and engage with the public within a particular locality. The nature of the community offer will vary from place to place depending on the nature of the centre and the needs of the community.

The aim of the centre is to enable voluntary, community and business organisations within a locality to share resources and work together to achieve strategic objectives, tackle locally agreed priorities and improve the health and general wellbeing of the area whilst improving the delivery of local services in the community.

The Vale Health and Wellbeing Centre (formerly Pewsey Campus) is located at the Pewsey Leisure Centre site on Wilcot Road.

The Pewsey Shadow Community Operations Board (COB) was in operation between May 2011 and November 2015. COB members were drawn from the local community – representing a comprehensive range of local organisations and groups that use existing facilities. During that time the COB consulted with local people and partners and in consultation with the Area Board developed a scheme for the Health and Wellbeing Centre.

What will be included?

The Health and Wellbeing Centre will include the following facilities:

  • New larger fitness suite
  • New reception desk and cash office
  • Reception area and breakout space
  • New 4 lane 25m pool
  • New wet village change area
  • Retained dry change (refurbished)
  • Community kitchenette/café and multi-purpose activity space
  • Squash court
  • 5 Court Hall refurbished and re-clad
  • Wheeled Sports area
  • Meeting room
  • Multi-Use-Games-Area

A community hub will be developed at the library which has potential for wider use. The site currently has ‘touch down’ facilities for staff and partners,  a meeting space and changing places facility.
